Arsenal have agreed a new sponsorship deal with Emirates worth an estimated £70m a year plus bonuses — a financial shot in the arm that could reshape their summer transfer window. But the north London club have been forced to deny reports they have opened talks with Newcastle over midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, amid growing unrest among fans over a lack of marquee signings.
Newcastle sources have told football.london that there remain no bids, offers or direct contact between the two clubs over Guimaraes. The Times reported on Tuesday that Arsenal had officially opened negotiations for the Brazilian, with Newcastle valuing him at £75m. In reality, discussions have taken place only through intermediaries, with super agent Kia Joorabchian involved in sorting out the player's future. Guimaraes, 28, has told Newcastle he wants to leave to win silverware elsewhere, and Arsenal’s valuation is said to be far lower than the Magpies’ asking price, while his contract expires in less than two years.

The denial comes as Arsenal's transfer activity — despite being Premier League champions in 2025/26 — has been relatively quiet compared to rivals. They started the window by signing Piero Hincapie for £34m permanently, adding back-up goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer, and agreeing a £34m move for Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis to replace Leandro Trossard, who departed for £17m. But they have yet to offload surplus players such as Fabio Vieira, Gabriel Jesus and Christian Norgaard, and have missed out on key targets.
