Arsenal book Meslier medical as Man Utd weigh £85m Tchouameni bid

Manchester United are weighing up an £85m move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, as the club scrambles to fill the void left by Casemiro.

The Red Devils have started discussions over the Frenchman, with any successful transfer expected to cost at least £68m, according to reports. Tchouameni is open to a switch to Old Trafford should Real Madrid deem him surplus to requirements, with Los Blancos needing player sales to fund new arrivals for Jose Mourinho, Fabrizio Romano claims.

Michael Carrick’s side had previously missed out on Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes to Manchester City and Tottenham respectively. While the arrival of Ederson from Atalanta is all but guaranteed, United remain in the market for further midfield reinforcement.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have reportedly booked a medical for Illan Meslier as they seek a back-up goalkeeper to David Raya. Kepa Arrizabalaga, limited to cup competitions in 2025/26, is heading for the exit in search of regular first-team football. Meslier is a free agent after leaving Leeds United upon the expiry of his contract. The 26-year-old failed to make a single senior appearance for the Peacocks last season, shipping six goals in two games for the reserves.

Liverpool have made initial enquiries over the possibility of signing 17-year-old attacking midfielder Gilberto Mora from Club Tijuana. The Mexico international, who impressed during an outstanding World Cup run, has an £18m release clause in his contract, which runs until 2029.

Cristian Romero is hopeful of joining either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid this summer, with his future at Tottenham uncertain, according to TEAMtalk.
