The 23-year-old was heavily linked with Arsenal, but three factors swung the decision in Chelsea's favour, according to The Athletic. First, the exciting project sold to him by the Blues. Second, the presence of manager Xabi Alonso at Stamford Bridge. Third, Chelsea's plan to deploy Rogers on the left wing next season.

Arsenal are now moving on from the failed pursuit. However, the Gunners could hijack PSG's move for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.
The 19-year-old had been targeted by Liverpool, who submitted an £86.8m bid earlier in the window. But Diomande wanted a move to France, agreeing personal terms with PSG, with L'Equipe reporting that a fee is being negotiated. Leipzig value the teenager at £110m.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal enquired with Diomande's agents in recent days to explore a potential signing. After losing Rogers to Chelsea, the Gunners may adopt a more forceful approach to secure the winger, though they would need to match Leipzig's hefty valuation.
