Arsenal have reached a verbal agreement with Club Brugge to sign attacker Christos Tzolis for 40m euros (£33.9m), with the Greece international’s medical already booked ahead of a proposed move. The Gunners are yet to table a formal offer, but that is viewed as a formality, and personal terms are not expected to be an issue. Once the bid is submitted, Tzolis will undergo a medical and sign a long-term contract, making him the club’s third summer signing.
The move comes after the departure of Leandro Trossard to Besiktas, which accelerated Arsenal’s interest in the 24-year-old. Sporting director Andrea Berta has led the deal, assisted by Maurizio Micheli, who watched Tzolis play for Greece against Sweden last month. Tzolis has scored 43 goals in 108 appearances for Club Brugge.

The acquisition is separate from Arsenal’s bid to sign at least one high-profile forward this summer. The club retains a long-term interest in Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez, their priority target, though Barcelona and Real Madrid are also keen on the Argentina international. Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa remains Arsenal’s preferred option for a versatile forward, with efforts to sign him set to accelerate once his World Cup campaign with England ends. Aston Villa reportedly value Rogers at £130m, and Paris St-Germain’s Bradley Barcola is seen as an alternative should talks fail.
With Tzolis’s arrival imminent, Arsenal continue to reshape their attacking options as they prepare for the new season.
