Arthur Fery reaches Wimbledon fourth round in epic five-set victory

Arthur Fery has etched his name into Wimbledon history as only the second British wildcard to reach the second week, after a gruelling five-set victory over Belgium's Zizou Bergs. The 23-year-old Londoner, given a wildcard entry into the main draw, battled through to the fourth round for the first time in his career. His five-set epic on the grass courts of SW19 echoed the fairytale runs of past British wildcards, a feat previously achieved by just one other home hope. Fery, ranked outside the world's top 100, showed remarkable composure to outlast the Belgian in a contest that stretched over four hours. The victory sent the Centre Court crowd into raptures, as the young Briton punched the air in disbelief. 'It's a dream come true,' he said afterwards, his voice cracking with emotion. 'I don't know what to say. The crowd was unbelievable.' Fery's run has already surpassed all expectations, and he now waits to discover his fourth-round opponent. Whoever it is, the British wildcard has already secured his place in Wimbledon folklore.
