Aston Villa have opened advanced talks to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea on loan with a potential obligation to buy, just days after selling Morgan Rogers to the same club for a record £117m.
The Argentina winger, 21, was made available for sale by Chelsea for £43m last month, but the club are open to a move that could see him leave permanently under certain conditions, even if it initially takes the form of a loan. Garnacho joined Chelsea only last September in a £40m deal from Manchester United, who are due 10 per cent of any eventual transfer fee.

His impact at Stamford Bridge has been limited to one Premier League goal, and the arrivals of Rogers and Sporting winger Geovany Quenda have increased the need to reduce the size of Chelsea's squad.
If finalised, Garnacho would be Villa's fourth signing of a busy summer, following Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes and Modou Keba Cisse. The Midlands club have raised nearly £200m in player sales, with Youri Tielemans, Donyell Malen, Enzo Barrenechea and Lewis Dobbin all departing.
The deal represents a swift reshuffle between the two clubs, with Chelsea effectively replacing the winger they signed nine months ago with the more expensive Rogers, while Villa look to add firepower after cashing in on their star asset.
