BBC to stream Sidemen World Cup watchalong in landmark tie-up

The BBC has partnered with the Sidemen to host a live World Cup watchalong for the first time, broadcasting the crucial Germany versus Ecuador match on Thursday – a fixture that could determine Ecuador’s tournament fate. The Group E finale kicks off at 9pm at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where Germany enter the game already qualified as group winners after securing their place in the last 32. Ecuador, by contrast, face a must-win encounter to keep their World Cup hopes alive. Fans in the UK can stream the watchalong for free on the BBC Sport website, BBC iPlayer or the BBC Sport app, while the event will also run simultaneously on YouTube via the official Sidemen channel and the BBC Sport channel. American viewers have separate options: English-language coverage on FOX and the FOX Sports app, and Spanish-language coverage on Telemundo. The match itself, originally scheduled for Thursday, June 25, will be played at the New York New Jersey Stadium, widely known as MetLife Stadium. Germany’s wholesale changes are expected with progression already assured, but for Ecuador, every minute counts.
