The World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico is underway, and BBC Sport has launched a new feature to ensure fans never miss a goal: live match updates delivered directly to the phone lock screen. The service, available through the BBC Sport app, provides real-time score updates from about an hour before kick-off until the final whistle. For Apple users, updates appear automatically when a selected team is playing; Android users must opt in via device settings. The updates vanish from the lock screen after the match ends, and can be turned off at any time without unfollowing a team. The launch comes as Germany prepare to face Curacao in the tournament, with the four-time world champions looking to avoid another early exit. All that is needed to activate the feature is to download the BBC Sport app and follow a favourite team. For those on the move, at work, or away from a television, the score is now always just a glance away.
