A 13-year-old boy has died and a woman has been taken to hospital after a two-vehicle collision on the M4 in Wiltshire, prompting an appeal for dashcam footage from police.
Emergency crews, including the air ambulance service, were called to the scene between junctions 16 and 17 on Saturday night after a Toyota collided with a Renault van. The boy, a passenger in the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman, also a passenger in the Toyota, was taken to hospital. Neither of the vehicles' drivers suffered serious injuries.

The motorway’s westbound carriageway was closed following the crash, while the eastbound carriageway was held for two hours to allow air ambulances to land.
Wiltshire Police is now urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward. “We need to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage,” the force said. “Please contact the Serious Collision Investigation team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 398 of yesterday’s date (18/07).”
The incident is the latest in a series of serious collisions on the M4, which cuts through Wiltshire and is one of the busiest motorways in the south-west. The family of the 13-year-old has been informed, and police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
