Brighton have agreed a club-record £46m deal for Croatia defender Luka Vuskovic, with Tottenham accepting their third bid after two earlier offers were turned down. The transfer, which could rise to £50m with add-ons, will see the 19-year-old replace Jan Paul van Hecke in Fabian Hurzeler's squad – ironically, van Hecke is moving in the opposite direction after Tottenham agreed to pay £52m for the Netherlands international.
Vuskovic, yet to make his Spurs debut, spent last season on loan at Hamburg, scoring six goals in the Bundesliga and establishing himself as one of Europe's most highly rated young central defenders. Born in Split, he came through Hajduk's academy and became the youngest player to feature in Croatia's top flight at 16, later becoming his club's youngest goalscorer. He agreed a deal with Tottenham in September 2023 to join in 2025 but will now undergo a medical when Croatia's World Cup campaign ends – they face Portugal in a last-32 tie on Friday morning.
“Brighton agree club-record £46m for Luka Vuskovic; Tottenham goalkeeper Kinsky signs improved deal.”
Tottenham also secured the future of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, who signed an improved contract after a rollercoaster first full season. The 23-year-old, signed from Slavia Prague for £12.5m in January 2025, was memorably substituted just 17 minutes into their Champions League last-16 tie at Atletico Madrid after conceding three goals in a 5-2 defeat. But after Roberto de Zerbi became Spurs manager, Kinsky played the final seven Premier League games as they avoided relegation. 'It's been a real journey to get here and a nice story already,' Kinsky said. De Zerbi added: 'He has earned this new contract, not only with his performances but also his professionalism and desire to improve. We have huge belief in what Toni can become.' Kinsky could now start the new season as first choice, with Guglielmo Vicario linked to Inter Milan. Spurs did not reveal the length or terms of the deal.
