More than eight in 10 Brits follow a strict morning routine, a new poll has found, settling once and for all the great debates over showers, snoozing and the best hot drink.
The survey of 2,000 adults, commissioned by Holiday Inn Express, found that 83% rigidly stick to a set regime to start their day – but approaches vary widely. When it comes to showering, 42% prefer a morning rinse, while 23% opt for a nighttime wash, with the rest having no preference or doing both.
“Poll of 2,000 Brits shows 83% follow a strict morning routine, with showers, snoozing and coffee preferences revealed.”
Alarm-clock habits also divide the nation: 34% get up immediately at their first alarm, while 26% hit snooze once or twice before rising. The eternal coffee-versus-tea question was also settled, with coffee emerging as the preferred morning brew.
The research prompted the launch of The Great Wake-up Debate, a video campaign fronted by comedian Rob Beckett, who teamed up with the hotel chain to explore Brits' morning rituals.
