Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has confirmed that Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh is due to have a medical in the next 24 hours, as the Scottish champions close in on a club record £11m deal.
The 25-year-old Denmark international, who has four caps, has been linked with Celtic for months and reports claim the fee would eclipse the previous record. "Yes, I'm hoping that that will happen," O'Neill said after Saturday's 2-2 pre-season friendly draw with AC Milan at Celtic Park. "I think there's a good chance of it. But, until someone's actually signed and sealed, there might be things still up in the air, but it's certainly progressing."
“Celtic set for club record £11m signing of Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh with medical in 24 hours.”
Asked directly if Hogh was about to have a medical, O'Neill added: "Yes, apparently so. He will have one in the next 24 hours, I think."
Hogh's arrival would ease pressure on the board and manager after the sale of fan favourite Daizen Maeda to Ipswich Town. Celtic have made just one signing this summer — Colombian forward Camilo Duran, who has scored three goals in three warm-up games. They have also been strongly linked with Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur, but O'Neill was coy: "That, I genuinely can't tell you. I genuinely cannot tell you at this minute. I've been preparing for this game. I'll see where we are tomorrow."
Hogh's career has been a slow burner. After coming through the youth ranks at Randers, he was sold to second-tier Hobro following an injury-hit spell, including a loan to Valur in Iceland. A move to AaB followed in January 2022, but a year later he joined Stabaek, newly promoted to the Norwegian Eliteserien. There his career took off: he scored eight goals in 14 games, prompting Stabaek to exercise a purchase option just six months into his year-long loan. Within three months, he signed a pre-contract with Bodo/Glimt to join in January 2024.
Hogh finished as Bodo/Glimt's top scorer with 12 goals as they retained the Norwegian title, and his seven goals in the Europa League made him the competition's joint top marksman as they reached the semi-finals. He was also the club's top scorer for 2025 with 17 goals. O'Neill hinted at further business: "We've got a few other things in the pipeline that might come to fruition, which would be great for us."
