Chalobah nears Como exit as Newcastle chase new No 1 in post-World Cup window

The summer transfer window is heating up as the World Cup enters its final chapter, with Premier League clubs turning their attention to squad reshaping. Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is edging closer to a permanent move to Serie A side Como, with an agreement reportedly reached over the 26-year-old. Sky Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio, via Sport Witness, claims Chelsea demanded £30m for the England international, and Como are now preparing to finalise personal terms now that the World Cup is over. Chalobah was called up to the England squad after Tino Livramento’s injury.

Newcastle United, meanwhile, are searching for a new No 1. The Magpies have held talks with Brighton over goalkeeper Carl Rushworth and are also locked in discussions with Manchester City over England international James Trafford, according to the Daily Mail. Eddie Howe wants another shot-stopper to compete with young Frenchman Ewen Jaouen, despite already signing him. Rushworth has emerged as a target after Coventry failed to agree a fee to turn his loan permanent.

Arsenal are understood to be considering an audacious swap deal to bring Julian Alvarez to the Emirates Stadium, having watched the forward face England in the semi-final loss. The Gunners may also be involved in other moves as the window accelerates. Manchester United are beginning to flex their financial muscle, with a triple deal reportedly on the cards, though no details have emerged.

As the women’s game also enters its transfer window, with deals across the NWSL, WSL, Liga F, Frauen-Bundesliga, Première Ligue and Serie A Femminile being tracked in a club-by-club guide, the men’s market is clearly in full swing. While England fans nurse heartbreak from their World Cup exit, their clubs are providing fresh hope—and fresh uncertainty—through a flurry of negotiations that will define the summer.
