Eagle-eyed Coronation Street fans spotted a typo in scenes airing tonight on the ITV soap — but there's a good explanation for why Liam Connor's football jersey spells his name 'Conner' instead of 'Connor'.
The misspelled jersey first appeared in an episode last year. It was a birthday gift from uncle Kirk, who had his own way to cheer up his nephew and sister Maria during a dramatic time. Unbeknownst to Maria, her husband Gary Windass was lying in a hospital bed after being attacked by Lou Michaelis. While Maria feared Gary had walked out on her and Liam, she tried to put a strong front for her son's birthday.

Kirk resorted to his usual birthday gift: a green football jersey in a different size. "Again?! You got him one of them last year! And the year before!" Maria told her brother in the episode, as Kirk justified himself saying this one would be the perfect fit. "Look at the back!" Kirk encouraged his nephew, who, upon seeing his last name spelled 'Conner', exchanged a knowing look with his mum.
Despite the typo, the jersey has become a prized possession for Liam, who rocks it again in tonight's episode.
Meanwhile, Gary has since returned home, but it hasn't been smooth sailing for him and Maria. After she suspected that Gary had rekindled his relationship with ex Sarah Platt, Maria was horrified to realise the truth had to do with Theo Silverton's murder. Gary had helped Sarah in the aftermath of Theo's murder. While there was no cheating involved, Maria isn't too thrilled that Gary put their family life on the line to rush to support his ex covering up a crime. Will she expose Sarah?
