Declan Rice says England have the fire to end World Cup drought as Aston Villa lower Morgan Rogers price

Declan Rice helped end Arsenal's 22-year wait for a Premier League title. Now he believes England can do the same — ending 60 years of hurt by winning the World Cup this summer.

“I think it's just about not getting distracted, focusing on the job,” the Arsenal midfielder said. “I think that's what we've done at Arsenal this year. Hunger to win more, for sure.”

England have not lifted the trophy since 1966, and after close calls in recent tournaments — including two European Championship final defeats — Rice sees a shift in mentality. “We've got that fire in us to know we want to go one step further, and we believe if we can,” he told the Mirror.

Rice also credited new manager Thomas Tuchel, describing him as “incredible” and praising his half-time team talk against Croatia that sparked victory in England's Group opener in Dallas. “It was something you wouldn't usually hear from a manager at half time and I think it was what we all needed to hear,” Rice said. “He's actually spot on. And we get him every day.”

The midfielder added that Tuchel has thrived in the tournament environment. “With this squad we have, we can achieve great things with him,” Rice said.

While Rice focuses on the World Cup, Arsenal are also working on summer transfers. Aston Villa have lowered their asking price for Morgan Rogers, the England star who is Mikel Arteta's dream target this summer. The club's reduced valuation could accelerate a move for the 23-year-old as the Gunners look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
