Disqualified driver who led police on 70mph chase jailed

Dashcam footage shows the moment police rammed a car driven by a disqualified driver who had left pedestrians and cyclists diving for cover during a high-speed chase through Cambridgeshire. Sean Kimber, 49, of Manor Close, Little Wilbraham, near Cambridge, led officers on a pursuit reaching 70mph in 30mph zones after they spotted him driving dangerously on Milton Road in Cambridge on May 5. The chase ended when police performed a tactical smash in a quiet residential street, with officers shouting: "Hit it. In front, in front." Kimber crashed through a wooden gate and sped over private land before being boxed in. Officers dragged him from the vehicle, one kneeling on his back to subdue him. He was arrested and later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, criminal damage and using fraudulent registration plates. At Peterborough Crown Court on July 17, Kimber was sentenced to one year and three months in prison. Detective Constable Lisa Bacon said: "Kimber's actions that day were nothing short of appalling. He drove dangerously and clearly with no thought about the danger he was putting other people in."
