Estonian missile startup picks BAE warhead and Roxel motors

Farnborough—An Estonian missile startup has turned to two British defence giants to arm and power its new short-range air defence system. Frankenburg Technologies announced at the Farnborough Air Show that it will equip its Mark I missile with a warhead from BAE Systems and will work with Roxel UK on propulsion. The agreement with Roxel, set to run for five years, covers design, development, integration and production of motors for current and future Frankenburg designs, the company said. “Working with established UK defence industry partners BAE Systems and Roxel UK helps us deliver affordable missile defence for the UK and its allies quickly, at scale and at a price point that enables mass deployment,” said Daniel Hallett, who runs the startup’s UK operations. The choice of BAE and Roxel marks a strategic bet on British manufacturing expertise as Frankenburg seeks to break into the crowded air defence market.
