The Financial Conduct Authority has banned a father and son from the UK financial services industry after a High Court found they defrauded clients and misused their money at a London insurance broker.
Alec Finch and Robert Finch were employed by AFL Insurance Brokers. The FCA said they “failed to act with honesty and integrity” and that they misused client money to fund the firm’s business expenses.
“FCA bans Alec Finch and Robert Finch after High Court finds they misused client money at AFL Insurance Brokers.”
“We will not tolerate serious misconduct and will take action to remove wrongdoers from the industry,” said the FCA’s joint executive director of enforcement and market oversight.
The regulator announced the ban on 23 July 2026, saying it acted in response to the court’s judgement. The High Court had already found that the pair engaged in fraud and misused client money.
The FCA’s decision means Alec Finch and Robert Finch are now prohibited from performing any function in relation to any regulated financial activity in the UK.
