Fenerbahce complete £8.5m deal for Manchester City's Nathan Ake

Nathan Ake has left Manchester City for Fenerbahce in a deal worth up to £8.5m, ending a six-year stint at the Etihad that yielded four Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph.

The Turkish club paid around £7m up front, with the remainder dependent on add-ons. The 31-year-old Netherlands defender, who made just six Premier League starts last season under Pep Guardiola, had one year left on his contract and limited game time in Guardiola's final campaign.

“It’s been a privilege to represent Manchester City over the past six years and I’m so grateful to have been part of a special team,” Ake said. “I’ll always cherish the memories, particularly of winning the Treble, being part of all four Premier League titles in a side that made history and triumphing in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in my final season at the club. While I’m moving on, I’m very proud of everything we’ve achieved together and City will always be special to me.”

Ake joined City from Bournemouth for £40m in 2020 and made 177 appearances for the club. He also featured for the Netherlands in the 2026 World Cup, making three appearances before their elimination by Morocco in the last 32. Fenerbahce will hope the experienced centre-back can bring his trophy-winning pedigree to the Super Lig.
