A one-year-old boy is in a London hospital with life-threatening injuries after he is believed to have fallen from the window of a flat above a shop in Gillingham, Kent.
Kent Police said officers were called by the South East Coast Ambulance Service at about 6.10pm on Sunday to reports that paramedics were treating the child on Cornwallis Avenue. The force said the child “was reported to have fallen from a window of a property”.

A force spokeswoman said: “Officers attended and the child was taken to a London hospital with life-threatening injuries. Inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
The fall is understood to have been from a flat above a shop, though no further details about the property or the circumstances leading up to the incident have been released. Police have not said whether anyone else was present at the time.
The boy’s condition remains critical. The investigation continues.
