Grand Theft Auto 6 fans finally have a date to mark on their calendars. Rockstar Games announced on Thursday that pre-sales for one of the most anticipated gaming releases in history will begin on 25 June, both on digital stores like PlayStation Store and at select retailers. The announcement came alongside the official cover art, unveiled in a 30-second video that shows the game's protagonists, Jason and Lucia, looming above the title against a backdrop of flamingos, alligators, fast cars, helicopters and motorbikes — nods to the fictional US state of Leonida, inspired by Florida. The cover, created in the series' signature pop-art style, also teases additional characters due to appear in the sequel.
The game itself will launch on 19 November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, after being delayed twice from its original autumn 2025 and May windows. The previous instalment, GTA 5, was released in 2013 and remains the second best-selling game of all time.
“Rockstar announces GTA 6 pre-orders start 25 June; cover art revealed with protagonists Jason and Lucia.”
Rockstar did not use Thursday's announcement to reveal GTA 6's price, leaving fans and analysts hotly debating how much it will cost. A 2025 report from gaming industry advisory company Epyllion suggested it could be the first game to be priced at $100.
While the pre-order and cover art news has electrified the fanbase, many are still eagerly awaiting a new gameplay trailer. Rockstar previously released trailers in 2023 and 2025 that offered a deeper look at the narrative and the lives of Jason and Lucia; those two videos have amassed a combined total of 446 million views. With pre-orders opening in just over two months, the countdown to November has truly begun.
