Haaland and Ødegaard set for Morocco friendly as World Cup looms

Erling Haaland and Martin Ødegaard have travelled to the United States with their Norway teammates ahead of Sunday's final World Cup warm-up against Morocco – a match that will be broadcast live on ITV4.

The two superstars missed Monday's 3-1 win over Sweden, with Haaland watching in the stands and Ødegaard staying in England after Arsenal's trophy parade. But both made the trip across the Atlantic this week, easing concerns over their fitness for the tournament.

Morocco, meanwhile, will be without former Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech, who did not make their World Cup squad. Defender Achraf Hakimi has been dealing with an injury but managed to play in the Champions League final.

The friendly is scheduled to kick off at 8pm UK time on Sunday 7 June at the Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey. ITV4 will begin coverage at 7:50pm, and the match can also be streamed via ITVX. For US viewers, Fox Sports 2 will broadcast the game at 3pm ET, with streaming available on the Fox Sports app.

This weekend's encounter marks the first time the two nations have faced each other since 1998. Their only previous meeting came during the France 1998 World Cup group stage, ending in an entertaining 2-2 draw.

The match comes just days before the 2026 World Cup gets underway – the biggest in history, featuring 48 teams across the United States, Canada and Mexico. BBC and ITV are providing comprehensive coverage of all group games, with full TV and radio details available for UK viewers.

For Norway, the friendly is a final chance to fine-tune a squad brimming with optimism, spearheaded by Haaland and Ødegaard. Morocco will look to build momentum despite missing a key attacking option. Both sides will be eager to avoid injuries ahead of the tournament. Will Haaland and Ødegaard start together for the first time this summer? Sunday's match will provide the first answer.
