Harry Kane has described playing golf with Donald Trump as a “pretty surreal experience” – a round that took place 18 months ago after the US President publicly praised the Bayern Munich striker. Speaking ahead of England’s World Cup quarter-final against Norway in Miami, Kane said: “When the President invites you somewhere, it was a pretty surreal experience just to meet him and obviously play golf with him. His golf is pretty good, to be honest with you. I hope I can play golf as good as him when I’m his age, that’s for sure.”
Trump, who played with Kane in Palm Beach, told reporters: “I think Kane is a great player. I played golf with him and I like him a lot. He’s a good golfer too. He’s really great.”
“Harry Kane describes playing golf with Donald Trump as 'surreal' as England face Norway in World Cup quarter-final.”
England, who scraped past Mexico in a dramatic last‑16 tie, now face Norway at the Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday. Manager Thomas Tuchel has urged his side to show courage. “We need to be brave now,” he said. “It’s quarter‑finals and the brave will have the luck on their side. We cannot have any regrets when we play a quarter‑final. We have to go for it.”
Tuchel must plan without defender Jarell Quansah, who is suspended, and several other England players are a booking away from missing a potential semi‑final. The squad received a major injury boost, however, as a key trio trained before the game. Norway will be spearheaded by Erling Haaland, their prolific striker.
The match is England’s biggest test yet as they bid to reach the last four for the first time since 2018.
