Video footage released by the Crown Prosecution Service has captured the moment murderer Vickrum Digwa told his mother to take the knife he used to kill Henry Nowak away from the crime scene.
In the clip, recorded on Digwa's phone and pointed at the ground, he can be heard speaking in Punjabi to his mother, Kiran Kaur. “Take this,” he said, passing off the 21cm ceremonial sword moments after stabbing the 18-year-old finance student five times last December.

Kaur, 53, was jailed for three years at Southampton Crown Court last Friday for assisting an offender. She took the weapon back to the family home on the night of the murder, December 3 2025, and placed it with a “larger collection of ceremonial and other weapons in your son’s bedroom”, helping to conceal its use.
Judge William Mousley KC told Kaur: “By then you knew or believed that he had stabbed and injured Henry. A responsible parent would have challenged their son over their actions and encourage them to do the right thing.” Instead, he said, her actions “added to your son’s pretence that he had done nothing wrong and that he was the victim”, further contributing to the “degradation of Henry being arrested when he was dying”.
Digwa, 23, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years on June 1 for the murder, after falsely claiming Henry had racially abused him. The case sparked national outrage, particularly after the release of police body-worn video showing Henry being placed in handcuffs moments before he became unconscious and died.
Solicitor General Ellie Reeves referred Digwa’s sentence to the Court of Appeal under the unduly lenient scheme, saying: “This case horrified me, and I know that feeling is shared by the British public… No sentence can ever undo the devastation that Henry’s family have suffered, or fill the void left by his loss.”
Hampshire Police is currently under investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) over Henry’s arrest.
Following Kaur’s sentencing, Henry’s family said they remain “incredibly disappointed” and pledged to “never give up in our campaign for justice for Henry… We continue to urge the Government to deliver the changes our wonderful son deserves.”
