Leeds land Wilson: Wales star joins on free transfer

Leeds United have signed Wales international Harry Wilson on a four-year contract, the club confirmed on Thursday. The 29-year-old attacking midfielder arrives as a free agent after his contract at Fulham expired at the end of June.

Wilson, who joined Fulham from Liverpool for £12m in 2022 following a loan spell, produced his best Premier League goalscoring return last season, netting 10 times in 36 appearances. Now he becomes Leeds' first signing of the summer.

“When the season finished and I became a free transfer, I felt Leeds were the team that really showed the interest in me,” Wilson said. “As a player, you want to play for a team which you feel like they want you and you feel like they are doing everything to get you.”

The 69-cap Wales international acknowledged the weight of expectation at Elland Road. “Really, really excited. It is a massive, massive club in the Premier League. To play for Leeds, you have to have a big personality. You have to be able to deal with pressure – the demands of the club and demands of the fans. You have to be able to take the pressure and go out and perform.”

Leeds have also been linked with moves for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles and Germany midfielder Julian Brandt, who left Borussia Dortmund when his contract expired at the end of the season. Wilson's arrival adds Premier League experience and creative firepower to a squad aiming to build on their return to the top flight.
