A man in his 20s flagged down a police car on London Road in Leicester at 10.45pm on Wednesday, bleeding from stab wounds to his chest and stomach. He was rushed to hospital but died in the early hours of Thursday.
The investigation into his death led to the arrest of six men on suspicion of murder, Leicestershire Police said. Detained are a 33-year-old, two aged 21, a 20-year-old, and two teenagers aged 19 and 18. One of them has also been arrested on suspicion of supplying class B drugs. Detective Inspector Lorna Granville, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Major Crime Team, said: “Following extensive enquiries, we have made a number of arrests today. The six men in custody will now be interviewed while we continue to gather information and evidence.”

The victim suffered multiple injuries, including three stab wounds, and a post-mortem examination confirmed he died from his injuries. Police believe he was stabbed in De Montfort Place, behind properties on London Road. Early on Friday, four more people – two men aged 52 and two women aged 43 – were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
DI Granville expressed condolences to the man’s next of kin and thanked the public for providing “vital CCTV”. She urged anyone with information or who was driving in the area between 10.30pm and 11pm to come forward.
On the other side of the Atlantic, a 51-year-old suspect has been charged in connection with a separate stabbing spree. Raul Morales is accused of stabbing two people on the Upper West Side in Manhattan on Thursday afternoon. He faces attempted murder and other charges, including a hate crime charge for one of the victims, a Jewish man. The second attack did not result in a hate crime charge. Morales was escorted out of the NYPD 20th Precinct on Friday. The two stabbing cases, thousands of miles apart, both left communities demanding answers as investigations continue.
