Lucas Bergvall seeking Tottenham exit after limited minutes under De Zerbi

Lucas Bergvall is facing an uncertain future at Tottenham, with the 20-year-old Sweden international keen for a new challenge after playing limited minutes under manager Roberto de Zerbi. The midfielder, who prefers to operate as a 'number six', was often deployed out of position last season, leaving him frustrated. His representatives have held talks with Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, while Chelsea also briefly explored a move in January but have since dropped their interest.

Bergvall’s desire to leave comes as Spurs push to strengthen their midfield. The club recently made an £80m offer for Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali, which was rejected, further highlighting the competition for places. The Swedish youngster played 33 games for Tottenham last season but missed two months after undergoing ankle surgery. He is currently at the World Cup in the United States, where he featured in Sweden’s 5-1 defeat by the Netherlands in Houston on Saturday.

With Chelsea out of the race, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest appear the most likely destinations for Bergvall, though no deal is imminent. His future at Tottenham remains unresolved as the summer transfer window approaches.
