Man bites passenger's finger in 'deep injury' attack on London train, police say

A man bit another passenger's finger so deeply it caused nerve and ligament damage during a terrifying attack on a London train, British Transport Police said. The victim suffered the injury after trying to intervene when the suspect became verbally abusive and threatened to kill people onboard a Cannon Street to Orpington service at around 9.20pm on May 21.

When passengers attempted to restrain the man, he bit the victim's finger and then tried to assault others. The ordeal only ended when the suspect got off the train at New Cross station. More than a month later, he has still not been traced.

Police have now released a CCTV image of a White man with a short dark beard and moustache. He was wearing a blue and grey puffer-style jacket, ripped grey jeans and a distinctive grey hat with two eyes on the front. Officers appealed for help identifying him, saying they believe he may have information that could assist the investigation.
