Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has “accepted all of Trabzonspor’s financial demands” according to Turkish outlet A Spor, taking the Cameroon international a step closer to returning to the Super Lig club on loan. The 30-year-old lost his place as United’s first-choice last term to Senne Lammens and spent the season on loan at Trabzonspor, where he made 33 appearances and won the Turkish Cup.
Meanwhile, United face a twist in their pursuit of West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes. The Portugal international is valued at £80m by the Hammers — a fee that would trigger a 15 per cent sell-on clause for Southampton, who sold him for £38m last year. Fernandes scored three goals and assisted four in 36 league games but could not prevent West Ham’s relegation.

The Sun reports that Tottenham Hotspur are “prepared to offer more” than United in terms of wages for the 26-year-old. Spurs finished 17th last season under Roberto De Zerbi but are ready to pay bigger salaries for marquee targets. United, however, can offer Champions League football next season after finishing third.
United have already struck an early deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson as manager Michael Carrick looks to replace outgoing Casemiro. More recruits are expected, with Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali also linked.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham’s willingness to pay higher wages will affect United’s transfer plans for Fernandes.
