Man Utd target three more signings after £85m double deal

Manchester United are planning to add at least three more players to their squad before the transfer window closes, a day after wrapping up an £85m double deal. Monday saw the Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos become United's first official signing of the summer, joining from Chelsea for £50m. Karl Darlow also arrived on a free transfer just weeks after his contract at Leeds United expired.

Now, United will seek to bring in another midfielder, a left winger and a forward, according to reports. Aston Villa's Youri Tielemans has emerged as a target, with the Belgium international thought to have a £35m release clause in his contract at Villa Park. The pursuit of Tielemans comes amid uncertainty over the future of Atalanta's Ederson, whom United had previously agreed to sign for £35m plus £3.8m in add-ons. Atalanta director Cristiano Giuntoli said: 'We were stunned [by Man United calling Ederson deal off]. Now we are working on a new contract for him.'

Michael Carrick will be busy preparing his squad for the new Premier League season, with pre-season commencing later this week. United head to Finland to face Wrexham on Saturday in their opening friendly, then travel to Norway to meet Rosenborg. Further friendlies against Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in Sweden follow, before a trip to Dublin to face Leeds. The run-in culminates in United's first league fixture against newly-promoted Hull City.

The summer transfer window remains open, and United could yet pause further incomings after wrapping up a deal for Tielemans while they weigh up departures. With a return to Champions League football on the horizon, Carrick's squad is taking shape — but more business is expected before the window slams shut.
