McFly are working on a new album — and their ambition is to become a 'glorified pub band', singer Danny Jones has revealed.
The four-piece, formed in 2003, are completed by singer and guitarist Tom Fletcher, bass player Dougie Poynter and drummer Harry Judd. Jones, who is also a guitarist and vocalist, shared the news as the band returned to the studio.

The aim represents a sharp departure from the glossy pop-rock that defined their early career. McFly burst onto the scene in 2004 with their debut single 'Five Colours in Her Hair', topping the charts and winning a Brit Award. They went on to sell millions of albums and pack out arenas.
But now, two decades on, they are chasing a different kind of glory. 'Glorified pub band' conjures images of small venues, casual sets and a back-to-basics sound — a world away from the production-heavy shows of their heyday.
It remains to be seen what the new music will sound like, and whether fans will embrace the shift. What is clear is that McFly are determined to reinvent themselves on their own terms.
