Nathan Ake leaves Manchester City for Fenerbahce as Tottenham confirm Tonali signing

Nathan Ake has completed a move from Manchester City to Fenerbahce in a deal worth up to £8.5m, as the Turkish club paid around £7m up front with the fee potentially rising through add-ons. The 31-year-old Netherlands defender, who made just six Premier League starts last season, departs after six years at the Etihad Stadium where he won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, two League Cups and the Champions League. “It’s been a privilege to represent Manchester City over the past six years and I’m so grateful to have been part of a special team,” Ake said. “I’ll always cherish the memories, particularly of winning the Treble, being part of all four Premier League titles … and triumphing in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in my final season.” Ake, who joined City from Bournemouth in 2020 for £40m, made 177 appearances for the club and featured three times for the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup before their elimination by Morocco in the last 32.

The move coincides with a flurry of Premier League transfer activity. Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Sandro Tonali, part of a £185m outlay that also brought Mateus Fernandes to north London. Callum Wilson, the former West Ham and Newcastle striker, is set to join Brentford on a free transfer subject to a medical. Meanwhile, Manchester United are reportedly interested in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha and are among a host of clubs targeting Alex Scott, who is also said to be on Arsenal’s radar. Arsenal themselves are reportedly considering moves for Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Ezri Konsa, as Villa’s financial situation forces sales, while Leandro Trossard appears to be on his way out. Chelsea are close to making Tyrique George’s loan to Everton permanent, and Liverpool have shifted their focus to Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola as an alternative target. The summer window is gathering pace, with clubs reshaping their squads ahead of the new season.
