Scotland on brink after Brazil thrashing as Bosnia boost hopes and England face must-win

Steve Clarke stormed away from his post-match interview after Scotland's 3-0 defeat to Brazil in Miami, their World Cup hopes hanging by a thread. Vinicius Junior scored twice, maintaining his streak of scoring in every World Cup match so far, while Matheus Cunha added a third. The loss leaves Scotland sitting third in the group in their first major tournament appearance in nearly 30 years, with a -3 goal difference that drastically reduces their chances of progressing as one of the best third-placed teams. Clarke later returned to deliver a full interview, saying: 'We made it difficult for ourselves. That’s it. We gave them the goals. We gave them the game they wanted. Disappointing.' Captain Andy Robertson, taken off at half-time with a suspected injury, added: 'We've put ourselves in a really difficult situation.' The squad will not know their fate until around Sunday, when Group J concludes. Clarke has since said Scotland are 'for sure' going home.

Elsewhere in Group B, Bosnia-Herzegovina boosted their hopes of reaching the knockout stages for the first time after defeating Qatar in their final group fixture.
