The Court of Arbitration for Sport has set a date for Senegal's appeal against being stripped of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title, a decision that followed a chaotic final in which players walked off the pitch.
Hosts Morocco were declared tournament winners after the Confederation of African Football (Caf) overturned the result of the January final, which Senegal had won 1-0. The trouble began when Morocco were awarded a stoppage-time penalty with the match goalless, prompting Senegal's players to leave the field. After a delay of about 17 minutes, they returned, Brahim Diaz's penalty was saved, and Pape Gueye scored an extra-time winner for Senegal.

Caf deemed that Senegal had forfeited the final and awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory. Senegal lodged their appeal with Cas on 25 March, seeking to set aside Caf's decision and be reinstated as champions. Caf and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) did not agree to expedite the procedure, so a hearing will now take place on 8 October, following the standard timeline.
According to a Cas statement, the hearing will be held behind closed doors at its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, as Caf and FRMF did not request it be made public. Cas cannot state when a final decision will be announced, but it will not be on the day of the hearing.
