Serena Williams rolled back the years at Queen's with a winning performance on her comeback to tennis after 1,375 days away from the sport. Playing doubles alongside 19-year-old Victoria Mboko, the 44-year-old American upset third seeds Erin Routliffe and Nicole Melichar-Martinez 7-6 (7-2) 6-2. "It was so fun," Williams said. "I had so much fun playing with Victoria. She was really able to hold up the team and play big on the big points. I could rely on her. We have never played together but it felt so natural." Asked why she came back, she added: "I had nothing better to do, I got tired of sitting at home. My kids are out of school for the summer, so why not?"
But for Welsh football fans, the World Cup brings a different kind of reunion: the return of a conundrum they hadn't faced since 2022. After missing out on qualification following a play-off defeat to Bosnia-Herzegovina, supporters are left to decide who to back in North America. Some may get behind Bosnia-Herzegovina, though that might be "too triggering" for others. There are 11 nations with red home kits to squint at, or the option to simply enjoy the spectacle. Craig Bellamy has tipped Spain or England, but where is the fun in backing a favourite? Some fans may turn to club loyalties: Wrexham fans see Libby Cacace and Dom Hyam in action for New Zealand and Scotland respectively, while Swansea fans can support Marko Stamenic (New Zealand), Eom Ji Sung (South Korea) or Cameron Burgess (Australia).
