He sent hundreds of sexual and threatening messages, broke into her home, and left a voicemail singing “I’ve got murder on my mind.” Now Daniel Wilson, 37, has been handed an indefinite hospital order for a stalking campaign that left James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli in “constant fear”.

Wilson’s obsession began after he befriended Broccoli’s son in sixth form, the court heard. In 2016, he got into the 66-year-old producer’s home, terrifying two of her friends who were forced to barricade themselves in a room until police arrived. He later delivered a bronze bust of her father, the late Bond producer Cubby Broccoli, then demanded money for it and for allegedly contributing to the script of Skyfall.

Despite a restraining order, Wilson breached it twice: first with that voicemail, then by posting a vile social media message. In 2023, after being released from a psychiatric ward, he smashed up seven vehicles with a hammer.

At Southwark Crown Court, Wilson admitted stalking Broccoli and two charges of breaching his order. Appearing via video-link from HMP Wandsworth, he yelled “lies” and “b**s” before Judge Christopher Hehir warned him he would be muted.

Judge Hehir ruled that Wilson would be detained indefinitely in a psychiatric hospital, telling him: “You have profound mental issues. The impact of your behaviour on Barbara Broccoli has been great.”

Broccoli, who sold control of the Bond franchise to Amazon last year, said: “He’s caused considerable anxiety and distress. He’s undermined my confidence and affected my wellbeing. I’m in constant fear, always on edge and looking over my shoulder.” She now fears attending public events such as film premieres.
