From 1 August, Wall Street firms will be able to buy millisecond access to the most influential posts on Truth Social – including, potentially, those of US President Donald Trump. Trump Media & Technology Group, the loss-making company behind the app, is launching Truth API, a paid data feed promising to deliver instant updates from "the highest-ranking" accounts directly to institutional clients, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The move is designed to capture a steady new revenue stream from financial traders who need to react quickly to sudden market swings triggered by Trump's posts on trade and tariffs. Until now, banks and traders had to monitor the app manually, risking costly delays of even seconds.
“Trump Media launches Truth API to give Wall Street millisecond access to posts from top accounts, including potentially Trump's.”
"Markets already move on Truth Social posts," said Kevin McGurn, interim boss of Trump Media, adding that the service will create a steady profit. Trump Media did not disclose pricing.
The company said some firms have been copying its data without permission for months. McGurn warned that Trump Media will soon block these methods, forcing firms to buy the official feed instead.
Because Trump remains the majority shareholder, he stands to profit directly from selling expedited access to his own public statements. The BBC contacted Trump Media to ask whether the president's posts will be included in the paid feed; the company did not comment. The White House declined to comment.
Mark Spiegel, an investment expert at Stanphyl Capital Management, called it "unprecedented" if the feature did include Trump's posts. Companies that trade off headlines would be "at a disadvantage" if they did not pay for quick access, Spiegel said, though he noted that Trump's posts "constitute just a tiny fraction of what moves markets."
Robert Frenchman, a partner at US law firm Dynamis, told Reuters: "It certainly does not seem fair, but yes, a tech platform can tier its distribution of information without violating federal securities laws."
The launch highlights the unique overlap between Trump's private businesses and his public role as president — a blend that continues to draw scrutiny.
