UK CAA sets 2035 target for hydrogen-powered aircraft operations

Small hydrogen-powered aircraft could be operating in the UK as early as 2035, according to a regulatory road map published by the Civil Aviation Authority. The road map follows the results of a second series of demonstrations under the CAA's Hydrogen Challenge, which tested the feasibility of hydrogen propulsion in aviation. The CAA said the demonstrations and the accompanying regulatory framework are intended to pave the way for certification and operations of hydrogen aircraft within the next decade.
