Vertical Aerospace in UK talks for 700-job electric aviation production site

More than 700 jobs could be created in the UK by the end of the decade under plans by electric aviation pioneer Vertical Aerospace to build its first full-scale production sites in the country. The company, listed on the New York Stock Exchange, said it was in advanced discussions with the UK government over a package of support to anchor the facilities. Vertical is now progressing the down-selection of UK sites for the first of its global full-production aircraft assembly and battery manufacturing plants. The news comes as the government looks to position Britain at the forefront of next-generation aviation technology. Vertical, which develops electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, said the package would cover the first of its planned global full-production sites. No further details on the value or structure of the support have been disclosed, but the company expects the UK facilities to support around 700 jobs by 2030.
