Wolves in talks to re-sign club legend Raul Jimenez after relegation

Raul Jimenez is in line for a shock return to Molineux just three years after leaving – with Wolves opening talks to bring the Mexico striker back on a free transfer.

The 35-year-old, who scored 57 goals in 166 games for Wolves between 2018 and 2023, was listed by Fulham on Monday among a group of players set to leave when his contract expires at the end of this month. Now negotiations have begun over a return to the club where his 40 Premier League goals make him Wolves’ all-time top scorer in the English top flight.

Jimenez is currently on international duty with World Cup hosts Mexico, who begin the tournament against South Africa on Thursday. But behind the scenes, Wolves are moving quickly to rebuild after finishing bottom of the Premier League last season and being relegated to the Championship.

The forward’s return would be a major boost for a side desperate for firepower as they prepare for life in the second tier. His experience and proven goal-scoring record – including that remarkable 57-goal haul across five seasons – could be the catalyst for an immediate promotion push.

Wolves declined to comment on the ongoing talks, but sources close to the club confirm that discussions are progressing. For Jimenez, a return to the club where he became a fan favourite would write a remarkable final chapter to his career.
