AC Milan break club record to sign Goncalo Ramos for £60m as PSG target Liverpool's Diomande

AC Milan have smashed their club record transfer fee to sign Paris St-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos for about £60m, the first signing under new manager Ruben Amorim. The 25-year-old Portugal forward, who scored 45 goals in three seasons at the French club, has agreed a contract until 2031. Italian media reported a fee of more than 70m euros (£60.2m), eclipsing the £42m Milan paid for Rafael Leao in 2019.

Amorim, the former Manchester United manager, signed a two-year deal last month to replace Massimiliano Allegri, who was sacked after a catastrophic run of form that saw Milan miss out on Champions League qualification.

Ramos's departure is part of a wider summer overhaul at PSG, where chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi, sporting adviser Luis Campos and manager Luis Enrique are leading planning. The Paris club, who won a second successive Champions League and another Ligue 1 title last season, aim to make one or two high-profile additions. Among their targets is RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande — and the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international would prefer to join PSG over Liverpool, who had an initial bid of £69m plus £17m in add-ons rejected this month. Leipzig are demanding about £129m for Diomande, who joined from Leganes last summer on a five-year deal and has been offered an improved contract to stay.

Further departures from PSG are anticipated, with midfielder Lee Kang-in and forward Randal Kolo Muani also expected to leave. Liverpool are known to admire France winger Bradley Barcola, though sources in Paris say PSG are keen to extend his contract. The Reds have already made one signing this month, bringing in Spain winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna for £34.5m — the first arrival under head coach Andoni Iraola, who replaced Arne Slot.
