Arsenal’s recruitment expert Maurizio Micheli flew to Sweden last week to run the rule over Club Brugge forward Christos Tzolis, as the Gunners consider accelerating a move for the Greece international. The 24-year-old has been offered to the north London club, with sporting director Andrea Berta actively working on the potential deal, according to sources. Manager Mikel Arteta is believed to be on board with the signing, and Arsenal’s interest is described as concrete. A fee of about £34.5m is being explored.
Tzolis, who has scored nine goals in 33 appearances for Greece, began his career at PAOK before moving to Norwich City in 2021. He managed three goals in 30 games for the Canaries between 2021 and 2024, but found his form on loan in the German second tier with Fortuna Dusseldorf, netting 22 times in 30 league matches. Since switching to Club Brugge, he has scored 33 goals over two campaigns, helping the Belgian side win their 20th league title last term. Crystal Palace attempted to sign Tzolis last summer but failed in their pursuit.
“Arsenal are considering a £34.5m move for Club Brugge and Greece forward Christos Tzolis, with a scouting trip already completed.”
Arsenal have made signing a new attacker a top priority this summer and also hold a genuine interest in Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers. The potential arrival of Tzolis would bolster Arteta’s options up front, with the Gunners aiming to build on their recent progress. The move could see Tzolis perform a U-turn on a reported earlier inclination towards Manchester United, according to the Evening Standard, as Arsenal push to finalise a deal.
