Arsenal are expected to approach Aston Villa for Morgan Rogers after the Premier League champions made the England forward their primary transfer target this summer.
Mikel Arteta's side ended a 22-year wait for the league title last season, but are already planning to strengthen further. Rogers, 23, could cost up to £100m, with talks yet to begin but anticipated in the coming weeks. Villa, who won their first major trophy since 1996 last term with Rogers as Europa League player of the tournament, do not want to sell. The former European champions face interest in the player from Chelsea and others, but Arsenal remain confident of securing a deal.
“Arsenal make Morgan Rogers their number one target in a potential £100m summer move from Aston Villa.”
Rogers is currently in the US with England's World Cup squad, where he came off the bench in the win over Croatia and competes with childhood friend Jude Bellingham for a starting spot. He is believed to be keen on joining Arsenal after moving from Middlesbrough for £8m in 2024 and signing a six-year contract in November. His first campaign in the Midlands earned him the PFA young player of the year award.
A potential arrival could throw the long-term future of Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard into doubt after the Norwegian endured a difficult season despite the title win. Rogers can also operate on the left or right flanks, and Arsenal are thought to be open to selling Gabriel Martinelli this summer.
The Gunners are also likely to make an approach for Ayyoub Bouaddi, an 18-year-old Morocco midfielder from Lille who could cost around £70m, and are expected to seal the signing of Jeremy Monga from Leicester for between £10m and £15m. The 16-year-old winger would join an impressive cohort of young talent at the Emirates.
