Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Leicester City winger Jeremy Monga, beating Liverpool to one of the country’s most sought-after young talents.
The 16-year-old, who made his Premier League debut at 15, has been the subject of a formal bid from the Gunners, with a deal worth between £10m and £15m under discussion, according to football.london. Negotiations are continuing, and while Leicester could push for a tribunal to determine a fair price, the transfer is drawing closer.
“Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Leicester teenager Jeremy Monga, beating Liverpool to the highly rated winger.”
Monga became the second-youngest player ever to feature in the Premier League when he came off the bench in a 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United on 7 April 2025, aged 15 years, eight months and 28 days. He has since been pushed to third in that list by Arsenal’s own Max Dowman.
The winger amassed 30 appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 season, etching his name in the Championship record books as the youngest-ever goalscorer when he netted against Preston North End in August. He had previously signed an academy scholarship upon turning 16, which is set to become a professional contract on his 17th birthday, 10 July.
Leicester had fended off interest last summer despite their relegation to the Championship, but Arsenal’s persistence appears to have paid off. The teenager recently represented England’s U18 side, scoring the winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Greece U19s and also finding the net in a 6-1 thrashing of Cyprus.
A potential move to the Emirates would see Monga continue his rapid rise, with Mikel Arteta’s side working quickly to wrap up the deal and fend off late competition from Liverpool, who had been heavily linked with the youngster.
