Arsenal pursue Vinicius Jr as Mourinho opposes Real Madrid exit

Arsenal are exploring a move for Vinicius Junior after receiving approval from the club's hierarchy, according to The Athletic, but new Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho would oppose the Brazilian's departure. Talks with Madrid have yet to take place, leaving the Gunners' interest in limbo as contract negotiations with the player stalled earlier this summer.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been dealt a major transfer blow as Real Madrid reached an agreement in principle with Yan Diomande. Sky Germany reported that Madrid verbally agreed personal terms with the RB Leipzig star, and TalkSPORT claims a five-year deal is now in place. Paris Saint-Germain also reached a deal with the Ivory Coast international last month, but Madrid are now in pole position.

Manchester United are attempting to offload Marcus Rashford to Roma in a bid to reduce the transfer fee for Manu Kone, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. However, the Italian newspaper describes any deal as unlikely due to Rashford's £325,000-a-week wages.

Chelsea rejected a third bid from Serie A side Como for Trevoh Chalobah, TalkSPORT reports, as the Blues hold out for their £35 million asking price. Como's opening bid was around £22 million. Chelsea are also closing in on the signing of Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace, which would push Chalobah further down the pecking order.

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe did not rule out a departure for captain Bruno Guimaraes this summer, having held talks with the playmaker. The Magpies could face a battle to keep the Brazilian as the transfer window heats up.
