Brighton have signed Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk for an undisclosed fee understood to be about £20m, as the Seagulls continue their summer rebuild. The 26-year-old centre-back, whose Elland Road contract was due to expire at the end of the 2026-27 season, has agreed a five-year deal with the south-coast club. Struijk initially joined Leeds' under-23s from Ajax in January 2018 before breaking into the first team, going on to make 196 appearances for the Whites – 34 of those in the Premier League last season.
Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler welcomed the addition. “Pascal is exactly the sort of profile we wanted to add to the squad this summer, in that he’s got good Premier League experience and has his peak years ahead of him,” he said. “He really showcased what he’s capable of last season – great defensive actions while comfortable on the ball – with his style well suited to ours. He is also a leader, having worn the captain’s armband at times for Leeds last season. He is an excellent addition to the group and I am looking forward to working with him.”
“Brighton sign Leeds defender Pascal Struijk for about £20m; Fulham make permanent the signing of Bayern's Jonah Kusi-Asare.”
The signing comes after Brighton sold centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke to Tottenham for £52m earlier this summer, freeing up both funds and a place in the defensive line.
Across London, Fulham have also completed a permanent transfer, securing Bayern Munich forward Jonah Kusi-Asare for an undisclosed fee. The 18-year-old Swede, who spent last season on loan at Craven Cottage, has signed a five-year deal with an option for a further 12 months. He played 10 times for the Cottagers during his temporary spell.
“I’m very happy to be a permanent Fulham player,” Kusi-Asare told FFCtv. “From my first week here, it was very good – I felt like I was a part of the Fulham family. The changing room was very nice, team, staff, so I’m very happy to stay here.”
