'It's complicated': Brooklyn Beckham's DoorDash ad leaves family 'stunned' after World Cup swipe

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham sat alone on a sofa, football tickets discarded on the table in front of him. "You're probably wondering why I'm watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home," he said. "It's a long story." A text overlay appeared: "It's complicated. More soon."

The 27-year-old's DoorDash commercial, unveiled after England's World Cup victory on Wednesday night, was a pointed public airing of the family rift that has simmered for months. Days earlier, Brooklyn had accused his parents, footballer David and Spice Girls star Victoria, of staging a reconciliation attempt as a "stunt" for the cameras.

Brooklyn Beckham's DoorDash ad, aired after England's World Cup win, has stunned his family and sparked accusations of profiting from the Beckham name.

It was the latest salvo in a feud that has played out in the open. Earlier this year, Brooklyn shared a statement blaming the rupture on what he called his family's obsession with image. "My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first," he wrote. "Family 'love' is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it's at the expense of our professional obligations."

The World Cup ad, which many interpreted as a direct swipe at the Beckhams, has left his family reeling. A source told Metro: "It has left his family stunned ... No one could have predicted he would do something like this. Monetising this situation will be heartbreaking for David and Victoria, especially after his dig at 'Brand Beckham' in his statement."

On Instagram, the backlash was swift. Some accused Brooklyn of being "tasteless". Others noted the irony: "Doesn't want to be a Beckham but happy to profit from the name." One commenter went further, calling on him to "drop the name and stop profiting from association."

Brooklyn has publicly blamed his parents for attempting to "ruin" his relationship with wife Nicola Peltz Beckham. The ad suggests the wounds are far from healed — and that the former photographer is willing to turn family drama into a brand deal.
