Dog correctly predicts England win as Japan thrash Tunisia

A Brussels Griffon named Bug correctly predicted England’s 4-2 victory over Croatia in their opening World Cup match, accurately selecting the winner by touching a miniature England flag while wearing an England shirt. The dog, who has amassed over 49,000 followers on Instagram, was filmed before the fixture with the caption: “My dog predicts World Cup match results: ENGLAND VS CROATIA. Posting this today as it is my Magnus Opus. Bug has made the call.” The post garnered over 29,000 likes, with one viewer calling it “absolutely iconic” and another adding “He was right.” England captain Harry Kane bagged two goals, including a retaken penalty, while Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford also scored in the June 17 win.

Elsewhere in the tournament, Japan produced a thumping 4-0 win over Tunisia, eliminating the African side from the World Cup in Hervé Renard’s first game in charge. Ayase Ueda scored twice for Japan as they ran riot. England’s next World Cup match is against Ghana on Tuesday (June 23), broadcast on BBC One at 9pm BST. Whether Bug can keep up his winning streak remains to be seen.
