Harry Kane and five other England players have been tricked into signing a copy of America’s Declaration of Independence – prompting fans to joke that the Three Lions must now play for the United States. The prank unfolded at the team’s World Cup training base in Kansas City, Missouri, where a TikTok prankster convinced the footballers to put their names on a replica of the 1776 document that founded the US.
“I think it’s going to go pretty well,” the prankster said in a video. “For sure Harry Kane – that’s the big tuna that we’re looking for. The big guy. Any others are fine but we want Harry Kane to sign it.”

Alongside Kane, Bukayo Saka, Elliot Anderson, Anthony Gordon and Jordan Henderson are believed to have signed the document. The video spread quickly online, with one fan laughing: “Does this mean they have to play for Team USA now?” Another called it “the greatest troll in the history of trolling”.
The incident comes as England fans have fully embraced Texas culture ahead of the team’s World Cup opener. Supporters arriving in Dallas Fort Worth were spotted wearing cowboy hats and boots, according to reports.
