England's World Cup campaign has been thrown into disarray just days before their opening match after a van carrying the team's boots, training equipment and analysis gear was stolen in transit from Florida to Kansas City. The theft, described as a 'huge heist', has left staff scrambling to replace the kit of key players including Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham.
The squad had been enjoying a pre-tournament training camp in Florida, where they secured victories against New Zealand, Costa Rica and local side Miami United. On Saturday morning, the players flew to their team hotel in Kansas City while their equipment was loaded into a van in West Palm Beach and sent ahead to Swope Soccer Village, the training base.

But when the van arrived, staff discovered that almost everything of value had been taken. Boots belonging to the team's biggest stars were among the items stolen, along with official match balls, training equipment, analysis gear, massage tables and even Thomas Tuchel's whiteboards. Only a single football remained in the load.
The FA have launched an inquest into the extent of the theft, which is still being assessed. There are suspicions that the drivers entrusted with transporting the kit may have been involved. With England due to begin their World Cup campaign against Croatia on Wednesday, the loss of such essential equipment could have a major impact on preparations.
Staff are now working frantically to source replacement boots, balls and training gear. The incident has overshadowed what was already a tense build-up, as manager Thomas Tuchel aims to end England's 60-year wait for a major trophy. The Sun has contacted the Football Association for comment.
